In February 2020, Fury outclassed Wilder in one of the best heavyweight boxing performances ever to reclaim the world title. The rematch in Las Vegas (Wilder vs Fury 2) was dominated by Fury from the start with several knockdowns up until his opponent threw in the towel.
This win meant finally an opportunity to have an undisputed world heavy weight champion, where Fury was to face Anthony Joshua in a title clash before sadly Joshua lost his belts to Oleksandr Usyk.
Joshua had intended to fight the winner of Fury v Wilder 3 next year, but his hopes of unifying the heavyweight championships were dashed after he was overwhelmed by Usyk.
Usyk dominated AJ at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and the two will almost certainly meet again in early 2022.
A date and venue for that era-defining bout were agreed after considerable deliberation, but Wilder's managers initiated legal action to secure a trilogy battle by invoking a provision in his contract with Fury.
A date was set for their third encounter this summer, but it was postponed due to Fury's suspension after testing positive for COVID-19.
Finally, the time is upon us. The trilogy bout is scheduled for this Saturday, October 9 to hold at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas with a capacity of about 20,000 fans. The WBC title will be on the line.
